Hi all,
We often use scheduled publishing to keep the website updated on regular basis automatically by setting future dates to our articles. It works nicely and really helps reduce time for our editors.
However, when we do this, the RSS acts in a funny way. All future articles appear on RSS channels while they're not yet on our website. So, anybody subscribes to the RSS channels can read articles while they're not yet actually published. We had to stop providing RSS although this is a very powerful way to get more visitors.
Do you have any solution for this annoying problem?
PHPCow would need to modify the select with a where clause to do a check on status of article and/or date comparison. Post a bug to them.
Thats a long standing bug thats never been addressed (at least two years)...its supposed to be fixed with PHPCOW 3

I did, long ago. I believe this bug can be fixed via regular updates, not necessary making users wait until new release.
BTW, have you received any new updates recently? The latest I got was in Dec last year.
thiennhien Dealing with cPanel and other companies i know how bug-fixes move and many a times they are postponed till next major release. I am sure V3 of PHPCow would be exciting enough to fully justify the long waiting period. Being coders ourselves we fully know how it is impossible for any company (even as big as M$) to give ETA's (and fail on them). So most of them always avoid giving any ETA's on release dates.
We spent $2500 on a software in Nov 07, which after the sale was made to us we were told that it will not work on PHP5 but they would be coming up with PHP5 compatible stuff in Feb 08. It's May 08 end and still there's no word. We just wait patiently instead of resorting to mudslinging on public forums all over the net. We know they they would be more eager than us to release PHP5 compatible version. I am not defending any company here though (just in case someone gets a weird idea that I am).

You crack me up man.....
I don't see anyone "resorting to mudslinging" or saying anything untrue. I see several people complaining about PHPCOW support, and I see someone spamming forums and sites talking about how fantastic PHPCOW support is.
Actually, I find it funny that most of your posts here are nothing more than spam......you don't answer questions, you don't help anyone....you just talk about your server business and how great PHPCOW is....
Lastly, I like PHPCOW (the program), but I'm completely honest with people when it comes to recommending it.....it has problems, hopefully problems that will be fixed. The support sucks.......when a company bans you for speaking your mind (mind you while still recommending it to people) that should be a big red flag to any potential customer. You, and your buddies, would have a lot more credibility if I were the only one to point out the issues.....but a cursory look around the web supports my opinion.
I've always been more than willing to work with them, and have spent a LOT of time and effort trying to help them make PHPCOW better. I had no problem waiting for the upgrade, but we've been treated like garbage and lied to way too many times.
So, you may ask, why am I here helping people? Because I have a lot of time and money invested into PHPCOW....more than 300 articles, URLs that would need to be changed, etc......Why should I move to another solution? I paid for this one. Also, one of the things I've been bugging them about for almost 2 years was a support forum so we could exchange ideas, troubleshoot, etc... which would cut down on their support tickets. Thankfully, Kaos started the forums up, and hopefully enough of us that actually use the program and actually care will get people on their way using PHPCOW, learning from our mistakes and ordeals as they go.
Last comment directed at "phpcowfreaks".....We agreed to not do this, and to focus on helping people.......if you want to keep it up, I won't do any mud slinging.....I'll just posting emails and chat transcripts from PHPCOW support, and make sure EVERYONE on the web sees that Digital Point Forums thread.
I'm here to help people, and have been helping people. I didn't come here to bash anyone, or to cause problems.......but I'm not going to go from forum to forum like you and lie to people.
I'd also suggest not posting if all you are going to contribute is "I can't tell you how to do that.......but PHPCOW is awesome" type posts.
Hi,
Maybe both of you should calm down a bit. I just want to ask if anyone here have any solution for the problem I mentioned. We have quite a big site (thousands of articles, not hundreds) and just want to get the news to more people by providing RSS channels as a means.
We encourage other people to reproduce news and articles from our site. So it would be good if you know some workarounds to help with this RSS problem.
Thanks.
No, its no problem....I'm perfectly calm. i'm just not a fan of trolls.
I answered your question a few posts back.....its been a known issue that they are working on, it should be fixed with the upcoming release. As to a workaround, there isn't one.
