PHPCow Help

I received 2 emails from PHPCow, or were they from PHPCow?

Yesterday I received one with an zip file patch attachment.

Dear xxxxx xxxxxx ,

We've just released an IMPORTANT patch of PHPCow.
Please extract an attachment and upload to PHPCow installation folder with FTP Binary Transfer Mode, overwrite when asks.

Also, please delete the cowedit folder under cowadmin If you've been migrated from old Version1 of PHPCow news publishing system but make sure NOT to delete the cowadmin directory by mistake, so Delete ONLY cowedit folder and sub-folders/files.

The same Patch is also available under cowadmin interface - get new updates.

Then today I got another one saying the following.

We noticed someone sent an email with attachment to upload to PHPCow.
Please never trust to anyone sending attachments by email.

Instead we're sending you a fix which can be downloaded directly from our website so it's trusted: http://www.phpcow.com/xxxxxx/xxxxxxx.zip

please download, extract and upload to your PHPcow installation folder with Binary Mode. There is just one file update under cowadmin/editor/de

Another big patch is going to be published shortly with minor fixes and improvements.

Ok so who do I trust, did they send both emails out?
It looks like they are blaming someone else other than PHPCow for sending out the first one.

What do you guys make of this? I have never trusted them.

I hear you there Chippie... I have trust issues too. I luckily didn't check my mail until both were in my mailbox making me go Huh? I haven't checked, but I'm wondering, and assuming the real download is probably in the user panel at the cow website?? I think I'll download it there to be safe.

Makes you wonder though WTF is going on? Did someone hack in and send out a bad patch despite them or what?? Glad I wasn't the only one wondering what was going on here.
